PsychologyThe purpose of Psychology is to introduce students to the systematic and scientific study of the behavior and mental processes of human beings and animals. Students are exposed to the psychological facts, principles, and phenomena associated with each of the major subfields within psychology. Students will also learn about ethics and methods used by psychologists. Students will utilize knowledge and demonstrate their understanding of concepts learned by conducting a variety of ethical experiments and research.

theatre artsThe Theatre Department’s goal is to provide a rigorous education in the disciplines of Theatre Arts and Music. Students in the department will study various acting styles, theatre history, audition skills, stagecraft, backstage production techniques, critique skills, choreography, rehearsal techniques, performance techniques, vocal styles and music theory. These artistic mediums also include life skills, time management, and social skills.

speechPublic Speaking is an elective course students can take in grades 9-12. In this class, students will lose their fear of speaking in front of groups. They will learn how to plan, research, compose, practice and deliver speeches. They will learn about the different types of speeches and will deliver each one. The student will study famous speakers and evaluate their styles of speaking. The students will study the process of communication, which will help them become better learners. Students will study mass media; perform scenes from plays; act out skits; debate each other; read dramatically, and communicate using every type of communication from verbal through non-verbal.
